About the Hotel

18 Argyle Street, Ullapool, United Kingdom

The Argyll Hotel is situated in the center of Ullapool, a picturesque fishing village on the West coast of the Scottish Highlands. Guests can enjoy stunning views of Loch Broom and the surrounding mountains. The hotel is recognized for its lively atmosphere with frequent live music events that attract both locals and tourists alike. Its proximity to Ullapool Harbour and the popular Ullapool Museum enhances its appeal as a convenient accommodation choice.

Location

Conveniently located, the Argyll Hotel is just a five-minute walk from Ullapool Harbour, making it ideal for travelers using ferry services. The charming village also offers easy access to local shops and attractions. Parking is available at the rear of the hotel, although the condition of the parking area has drawn some criticism.

Rooms

The hotel offers well-appointed en-suite guest rooms, some with breathtaking views across Loch Broom. Rooms feature a variety of amenities, including flat-screen TVs, complimentary bottled water, and tea and coffee-making facilities. A selection of rooms is pet-friendly, catering to travelers with pets. Overall, accommodations at the Argyll Hotel combine comfort and scenic vistas for guests.

Eat & Drink

Dining is highlighted by the Argyll Seafood and Steak Restaurant, which prides itself on using locally sourced produce cooked freshly to order. The newly refurbished bar serves Cask Marque real ales and a fine selection of malt whisky, making it a popular spot for a night out. Breakfast options are available, though some guests have noted the need to check the dining arrangements at their sister establishment, the Ferry Boat Inn.

Leisure & Business

The hotel hosts an active social scene with regular live music and events like quiz nights and poker leagues, fostering a welcoming environment for both guests and locals. While there is a focus on entertainment, business amenities are limited, making it more suitable for leisure travelers. The inviting bar area provides a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms offered beautiful views across the harbor and had good amenities like WiFi and a decent-sized TV. However, the room decor was dated and cleanliness was lacking, with stained carpet and chipped paint. The service was exceptional, with friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to go the extra mile to assist. The location was excellent, especially for those who love Ullapool, with magnificent views. The dining area felt outdated and more suitable for quick catering, which was a letdown given the potential in the bar area. Overall, a stay with highs and lows.

The hotel rooms were very tired and old-looking, with an extra cost of £10.95 per room that I feel should be included in the room rate. The service, however, was very friendly and attentive, especially in the hotel bar. The location had a cracking sea view, but the staff seemed uninterested. The dining experience fell short, with a poor breakfast service and high prices. Despite the flaws, the hotel is in Ullapool with fantastic bay views.

The hotel offers lovely big rooms with views over Ullapool Harbour, but they could use some maintenance. Although the location is central, it can get noisy at night. The service was a mix of rude and welcoming experiences, with housekeeping being a highlight. The dining options, while satisfactory, could improve in cleanliness and timing. Facilities were average, considering the price point.

The hotel was a bit tired but served our needs well overall. The rooms were a bit dark and cold initially, but they warmed up. The service was mixed, with some unwelcoming interactions but great food. The location was convenient for our ferry trip, although cleanliness could be improved. The dining room had an outdated vibe, but the food was decent. Overall, a satisfactory stay with room for enhancement.
